Stair Bicycle Ramp
This was a simple project to make it easier to get our bikes up and down the stairs to the basement. The hinges allow the ramp to be swung up against the wall and out of the way when not being used. It's held in place with a safety hook-and-eye latch. The underside of the ramp rests flat on the front edges of the stair treads and on the basement floor so that it's firmly supported over its full length. This avoids putting too much strain on the hinges and screws under the weight of the bikes. The ramp was positioned far enough from the wall that the handlebars clear the door frame at the top of the stairs while still providing enough space to safely walk up and down with a bike.
